Duplicate content

Well, I have been busy rewriting my site. Five pages so far. It seems Google's version of duplicate content and mine. Didn't match. I kept reading about it and made sure my content was different, even down to part of the description of the dresses. But it seems that wasn't enough for Google. After wondering why I was getting a very small number of visitors I thought I would go straight to the horses mouth and ask Google. After all I had followed their advice to the tea. So into Google's blog I go. just about to post when I am asked by the well set up blog, have you checked the FAQ's? No, so I start typing "no traffic", the first thing that comes up is a guy with the same problem. Someones answer is he has too much duplicate content. So I run a program that checks for that. Whoah! Will you look at that, it even matches the content of my old site! So even though I had made changes, it was not enough. So Google's definition was even tighter than mine. Whoops! Re writing needed!!!!

All this could have been avoided if Google had given a good description of duplicate content. I wonder how many other potential millionaires ave been stopped dead in their tracks? Another blog I have has a combination of old love poems and links to great Tango sites. Again I thought this would break it up enough, but it looks like it doesn't. What a shame. A lot of good Tango sites will not be found.
Hint, when using products from affiliate sites. Change everything, re write the lot!!!!!!

Search engine tracker tracking visits

I have discovered a great program that tracks Search Engines visiting your site. The interesting thing is Google visits a lot, Yahoo regularly Live about once a week and Ask once in a blue moon. Pinging has no effect on Live and Ask. Google seems to visit my site at a minimum once a day. Up to 11 times in one day. Which considering the ongoing work on my site that's quite handy. Yahoo is about one visit a day. The others whenever. http://www.crawltrack.net If you don't have PHP, put the tracking code just under the titles. Any higher could cause problems with your site. Now I have to sit and twiddle my thumbs. Just kiddin.

Waiting, waiting, waiting. For Google to return. I have slowly started redoing the Google Friends Connect on the site. Slowly. As my arm aches from the repetitive work. Fortunately it's my own site, so I can pace myself. I've got a timer (a free one), that makes me take breaks every hour. That is when I start it up (most of the time). Then I go and do the dishes or tidy up or something similar. I have five regular pages to go. I haven't decided what to do with the Womens sexual pleasure and desires. Women's sexuality page as yet. Whew! I thought this web site stuff was easy! Silly me.
I have been checking out some of my opposition sites for keywords. I must say, it doesn't look as if there is much keyword stuff done by my opposition. Most PR's are 2 or 3. Very few have done much optimisation other than for the main keywords. Some of the top keywords that I have checked out, they don't have quality links, (I looked at their caches). Not that it means anything.

So I guess I will just have to wait on Google to see what happens. Although I have noted that Google images is sending me a fair bit of traffic.

Murphy's Law

Murphy's Law says that, "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong". I put a code for a program in each page, (per instructions). It was there for about ten hours before I discovered the problem. In that ten hours Googles spider visited my site. Surprise! Surprise! Now the error appears in the Google results.
On a positive note. Yahoo has made its first visit. Hmm, I wonder why it took so long. MSN and Ask have not. Although it could be a case of Murphy's law. Regardless. The best search engine visited well before the pretenders.

I need some crawler bait

Having just checked myStat Counter I find that the search engines are still rather scarce on the ground. Ask hasn't visited like I thought. I have been pinging the blog listings via Ping Goat and I have been blogging away to my hearts content. :) With very little success. :( Scratching my head for ideas but nothing pops into my mind. Check out the Google Webmasters Google Television with Matt Cutts. I might just do research on SE spider bait.

Site doesn't rank under it's own name

Now here's a turn up for the books. My website Top 100 Hot Sexy Prom Dresses doesn't even rank in the top 10 pages of its own name. If you follow Googles webmaster advice you would expect my site to be in the first 10 to 20 SERPs. Admittedly it's only new. But then so is this blog and it has two entries it the top 20 for Top 100 Hot Sexy Prom Dresses Maybe its links aren't in Google yet. I don't know. That may boost it. Once the links from here are in Google. The other thing I have noticed is the slow uptake of Search Engines to my site Top 100 Hot Sexy Prom Dresses Google was first in and fast. After all the advice they gave it had better be the first. But then it disappeared. Very slow to return. But seeing as though no one else bother to turn up till today. Google was positively warp speed. Today Ask turned up to my Top 100 Hot Sexy Prom Dresses site. Well at least there was a list from someone who used Ask. Then there is the blogging. The advice coming thick and fast from all over the place was, blogging. Do some blogging provide some quality (or good links) and the search engines will find you. Well. I'm still waiting..........

I will say Googles advice was very, very helpful. Oh! Hang on. I'd better wait till I get some rankings first. I must say, the array of helpful FREE tools available to you. Is absolutely mind blowing. Google's are very helpful, although they can be improved. Some are a bit hard on the hands. Meaning repetitive. RSI. But I'm sure they will improve. It's very hard doing repetitive work, when you are trying to build a quality site with a lot of pages.
